STUDENT FEEDBACK

“I thought the format was very easy to use once I became familiar with it, and the course itself exceeded my expectations. It is very thorough in content and also provided a lot of resources that I can use on the job. I started out as a part-time, temporary typist for an attorney that does corporate and estate planning work, and still work on an as needed basis with him. I also took on a second part time job with attorney that does traffic and criminal law, although I only do the non-secretarial duties (client accounts, billing, bookkeeping, advertising, etc.). My plans are to complete the NALA certification, and then either continue as a paralegal with one of my current employers, or try to find a position with another firm. I'm 53 and have limited marketability, so having completed the paralegal program and anticipating certification will be a big help. My youngest son will be starting college next year, and so I plan to work full time. My employer as well as other related contacts and I are discussing future working plans. I am so excited!”

“I went into this as my own biggest enemy because I doubted myself. I felt like I had too much on my plate, working a full time job, taking care of two kids on my own, working out and then trying to further my education. With the support from Course Shift’s staff, I not only completed my course, but I did so with honors. This school is definitely recommended for anyone who is interested in going into the legal field. And my best word of advice would be to pace yourself and finish on your own time & discipline yourself to stay on a schedule. I followed the suggestions for finding work in the homebizbook and started working for an insurance company within 2 days. Planning to get lots more.”

I have obtained a part-time position at a law firm in South Carolina. I believe this may lead into a full-time paralegal position in the near future. Thank you again for your support and guidance throughout the program. The work I am currently doing mirrors what I learned in the course.

I was provided an in-depth 6 month ‘crash course’ on all the aspects of law. Previous to the course I had knowledge on law itself, but not the specific categories. My legal vocabulary has increased tremendously. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It happened to line up with some of my law classes I was taking at the same time ... I found myself able to apply what I learned to my assignments there. I enjoyed this course because I was able to pace myself, but I do prefer more assignments just so I know I’m earning my grade. Other than that, this class really prepared me for getting a career now instead of waiting to finish my bachelor’s degree. Also thank you for the encouragement when I would submit my grades. It is very helpful.

I understood the workbook well. I enjoyed the aspect of having the 40 hours to research at the end. Since so much of paralegal work involves research and pulling together citations it’s was great practice. Overall the in-depth information on learning the different citations, where to pull materials, and how to cite them properly was really good practice for the field.
